Triple Podium for TekworkX GT4s in Sydney

TekworkX Motorsport have walked away from Sydney Motorsport Park with a trio of podiums following another strong weekend in Monochrome GT4 Australia, along with a pair of fast cars in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge.
For the first time in 2025 TekworkX entered three cars in GT4, with Zoe Woods and Nash Morris combining for an outright podium, Ryder Quinn and Steve Jakic taking a pair of class podiums and a superb debut for Joshua and Diesel Thomas.
In the opening race of the weekend for GT4, Quinn made the most of a fast start in his Black Diamond Constructions BMW to position himself inside the top 10 overall upon handing over to Jakic at the halfway point. A strong drive home from Jakic saw the duo pick up their second class podium of the year in third place.
It was a dominating second stint from Quinn to set up their double podium in Race 2 of the weekend, taking the BMW entry from 20th to 10th outright and third in class in the closing stages of the race.
In the Ceilings by Design entry, Morris was tasked with starting the opening race and handed the car to Woods in contention for a top five place just past the halfway mark.
In a scintillating closing stint, Woods stormed towards the leading group with a string of consistent laps to take third place and halve the gap to the race lead. Despite a robust defensive drive Woods and Morris narrowly missed out on a podium after an overtake in the dying laps which left the Ceilings by Design entry fourth overall.
Woods started excellently in Race 2, showcasing her ability to get the elbows out and positioning herself in a contending position for Morris to take over after the pit stop. Morris picked up where Woods left off and elevated the duo’s Porsche Cayman on to the podium, aided by a valiant last lap defence of the position.
The Thomas brothers enjoyed a fast weekend in their TFH Racing entry, putting together two strong performances which showcased the raw speed of both drivers in their first outings in GT4 machinery. The duo was particularly impressive in Race 1, where Diesel Thomas charged through the field to pick up eighth overall.
It was a consistent weekend for Willie Exton and Jackson Rooney in Sprint Challenge, with the duo both fighting back from a Race 2 setback.
In a calm opening race, Rooney battled his way from 10th on the grid to pick up seventh place ahead of Exton in ninth. Both drivers were moving forward again in the second race of the weekend before incidents set them back, and relegated them to starting positions outside the top 15 in Race 3.
Moving in unison through the field, Rooney led Exton home in the weekend’s final race in eighth and ninth following a clinical series of overtakes to be the biggest movers in the field.
The next round of the season for both GT4 Australia and Sprint Challenge takes place from May 30-June 1 at Queensland Raceway.
Quotes:
Ryder Quinn
“It was great to come away with a double podium, it’s quite tricky with the success penalties in the pit stops to do that. It’s just a credit to how strong the car was how much Steve has progressed.
“Probably one of my best drives that end stint in race two, the tyres were quite old at that point and there was heaps of pressure from behind. So, to hold on and get that result was really enjoyable.
“We just enjoy going racing, and the trophies are a bonus, and it’s good to see we’re still able to come away with frequent podiums even with how much stronger the competition has got this year. We’re going to miss round three in Queensland, but we’ll be back at The Bend and looking to come back even stronger.”
Zoe Woods
“It’s definitely special to do it two years in a row. We had a great weekend, and Sydney holds a lot of meaning for me, it’s where I grew up for 18 years before moving to the Gold Coast.
“This year was extra emotional. I lost my grandfather earlier this year and made a promise to myself that I’d make him proud. Standing on the podium felt like I kept that promise. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into the remaining rounds.
“Each weekend has been a step forward for me personally. Having the support of the team, my family, and the Morris family around has really helped build confidence. We didn’t qualify as well as we hoped, both Nash and I left a few tenths out there, but we knew what had to be done. We put our heads down, worked together, and made it happen.
“We’ve been consistently in the top five, and to finish the weekend with a podium was a massive team effort and a great way to reward everyone’s hard work.”
