Woods and Morris Rebound from Early Setbacks for GT4 Podium

Zoe Woods and Nash Morris fought back expertly to claim a podium finish for TekworkX Motorsport in Monochrome GT4 Australia after early issues threatened to derail their weekend.

After picking up their first podium of the season at Sydney Motorsport Park Woods and Morris entered the third round of the series on a high, further boosted by an engine change on the Porsche Cayman in between rounds.

Conditions on Friday were dampened for the most part by a constant trickle of light rain, with the track only drying in the latter stages of Pre-Qualifying. A gearbox fault however kept the Ceilings by Design entry on the sidelines and left the duo with no proper dry running under their belts before qualifying.

A late technical issue on Saturday morning left Morris with just 3 minutes to set a lap in the first qualifying session, only to be met with a red flag and subsequently a last place starting spot for Race One. Woods was able to take to the track for her session, qualifying 16th in her first dry laps of the weekend.

The opening race of the weekend started off under a cloud of light rain, with a mixed bag of dry and wet tyres through the field, before conditions rapidly deteriorated under a heavy downpour. The TekworkX crew were quick to effect a change to the wet tyres early on, with careful driving paving the way to rise up the pack and finish in 14th place.

Sunday’s race took place under much calmer skies, with Woods making great ground in her opening stint to place the duo inside the top ten as she handed over to Morris. A Safety Car intervention bunched the field up, and Morris pounced on the restart to claim third place outright in what was a tight battle to the end for the overall victory.

After three rounds of the 2025 season, Woods and Morris are fourth in the Silver Class standings in GT4 Australia. The fourth round takes place at Sandown Raceway from July 25-27.

Quotes:
Zoe Woods
“TekworkX have done an amazing job with the car, a lot of hard work sweat, and tears have gone into it especially with the engine change which was delayed by the floods in New South Wales. I’m just so grateful for it all.

“Friday wasn’t looking like our round, the gearbox went and all sorts of issues, but the team have again done an awesome and I’m proud to be part of that. To give them a podium on Sunday is everything we needed to say thank you and reward that effort.

“Saturday was some of the toughest conditions I’ve ever driven in, the spray coming off the cars in front was something I’d never experienced and hard to put into words what that was like. I just made sure I put my best foot forward on Saturday, it didn’t quite go our way, but then it all worked out for Sunday!

Nash Morris
“It’s been good compared to what we went through in practice and qualifying, a whole lot of commitment from the team to get us back out there and good to reward them with a podium.

“Sunday’s race was actually my first dry laps so that took a bit to get used to, going about 10 seconds a lap faster, but we just had to send it and we came out with a trophy which is cool.”
