TekworkX Motorsport enjoyed their strongest Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup round of 2025 so far, with a double podium and the spectacular debut of Finnish/French talent Marcus Amand.

Dave Russell led the way, taking second overall for the round ahead of Amand in third with Tom McLennan also featuring in the top 10 battle all weekend.

Qualifying was typically close, and only accentuated by the nature of Queensland Raceway, with Russell pipped to pole position by just 0.0099s and securing a front row start. Amand suffered a brake-bias cable failure, sending all of his braking power to the rear, but still qualified ninth. McLennan was 15th, only half a second from pole, highlighting the close nature of the field.

Russell was never heeded in the opening race as he picked up second place, while Amand began his charge in rising from ninth to fifth with McLennan home in 15th.

The grid for race two was set by second fastest times in qualifying, putting Russell third on the grid with Amand 10th and McLennan 12th. The 45-minue race length worked in favour of Amand who stormed his way through to the podium places, finishing third for his first podium on Australian soil. Russell crossed the line just behind his teammate in fourth, while McLennan took home another 15th place result.

With places reset based on round points, Amand again pounced on Russell early in the third race to take over second place on track, setting after the race leader but falling just short. The duo crossed the line second and third to fill the back of the podium and secure round podiums as well. McLennan had a strong start, getting into the battle for 10th on the road but a late off track moment dropped him back to 14th.

Russell has now moved to fourth in the points standings in his Hire A Hubby Porsche, thanks to his best round results of the season, with three podiums in the last two rounds.

Quotes:
David Russell
“Although it’s our home track there’s a lot of cars testing here, so to convert in qualifying that’s what it all comes down to, and then execute in the races so you’re not having any issues.

“So for us to bank those points all weekend is good, we sort of had a slow start to the season and been a bit unlucky, for us now we’re moving onwards and upwards. We’ve had good success at the rounds remaining so looking forward to attacking those.”

Marcus Amand
“We had some good battles because I was starting a bit far away, really fun racing. Just disappointing that we started so far back.

“Overall, a positive weekend though because we finished in third but I think if we started a bit further forward we could have done more.

“The team was great, car was great, it was getting better every race. Queensland Raceway was very hard, very bumpy but very fun at the same time so challenging. It was pretty hard to pass with the bumps, but it was good.
