Lincoln Taylor Returns to TekworkX for Sprint Challenge Assault

Dec 5, 2025 | General, Sprint Challenge

Lincoln Taylor will return to the TekworkX Motorsport fold in 2026 as he steps up to Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge.

Taylor made his Toyota GR Cup debut in 2024 with TekworkX, impressing in his rookie season to be picked up by the WAU Academy team for an attack at the 2025 GR Cup title. Across the five-round calendar Taylor claimed a series-high four race wins, and two overall round victories on his way to second in the Championship.

The 17-year-old will join a long list of talented teenagers to make their one-make Porsche racing debut in Sprint Challenge, but will become TekworkX’s youngest driver thus far to represent the team in the category.

TekworkX have won races every year the team has entered a driver in the Pro Class, with 11 wins coming in their only full-time season in the category so far in 2023. Partial campaigns in 2024 and 2025 have earned the team another four victories.

The team’s one-make pedigree also extends to Carrera Cup, where David Russell recently secured third in the Championship, after finishing second in in the championship in 2024.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge kicks off for 2026 at Phillip Island from March 27-29.

Lincoln Taylor
“To be honest 2024 was an amazing year with TekworkX, so there’s no other team I’d want to step up to Porsche with.

“I’m not too sure what the competition on track will be like, we’ll just go in with our best foot forward. TekworkX are the team to be with, every time I watch they’re up the front. They bring a good car, a good operation and it’s a great family environment. I’m confident I’ll have the car behind me, I just need to put myself together.

‘There were a couple different options for 2026, but Porsche sprint challenge was our best option. Not just as a step up on the ladder to bigger things in 2027, but to learn more about being in a high-performance race car.

“The speed difference will be the biggest change, going from effectively a street car in an 86. Everything’s going to come at me quicker and I’ll be racing new people in a new car while trying to find the limit quickly. With no ABS or Traction Control I’ll have to relearn a lot of my techniques.

“My biggest takeaway from Toyota was learning to not be so stressed inside the car, just chill out and not worry. Minimise the mistakes and that’s going to be your best outcome, which is the same mindset I’ll bring into 2026.

“I’m happy to have Method Race Wheels, Titanium Caravans and Custom Lithium back on board for another year, and we’re hoping to secure some more partners before the season starts.”

Rob Woods – Team Owner
“Having Lincoln return to TekworkX for the 2026 Porsche Sprint Challenge is something we’re extremely excited about. After working together in the 2024 Toyota GR Cup, it’s great to see Linc take the next step in his racing career, and we’re proud to be part of that progression.

“There are a lot of positives to having him back – he already knows the team, understands how we operate, and he’ll be reunited with Tim (Lovasi), his mechanic from 2024. As a team we’ve consistently delivered fast, competitive cars, and Linc has proven time and again that he’s a very quick and capable driver.

“We’ve watched his development throughout this year’s GR Cup and it’s clear there’s tremendous upside for him heading into 2026. We’re confident the combination will work extremely well and we’re looking forward to what we can achieve together.”
